Thin Lips Los Angeles, CA

WHAT CAUSES THIN LIPS?

Beautiful lips have been coveted by men and women throughout the world since the beginning of time. If you’re wondering, “how do I get thick lips like my Beverly Hills friends,” you’re not alone. Some people are fortunate to be born with perfectly shaped, full lips. Others are born with naturally thin or unevenly full lips.

Aging also changes the shape of the lips and mouth, as the skin, fat and muscle of the area thin and as structural support for the lip structures diminishes with age related bone loss. Over time vertical lines often appear above and below the lips, and the corners of the mouth can begin to droop. All of these problems can be corrected safely and painlessly without surgery or excessive swelling.

The ideal lip shape varies depending on the person’s racial background. There are, however some general guidelines that hold up cross-culturally. For example, a pleasing lip width is where the corners line up with the midpoint of the eye.

An example of culturally variable aesthetics is that for Caucasians, the lower lip should project slightly beyond the upper lip with a well-defined cupid’s bow. Fullness should taper off at the corners and the ratio of upper to lower lip should be 40:60. For our Asian and African American clients, the upper and lower lips can be equally full.

We are discovering that there is a science of proportions and measurements to beauty. Many great artists and physicians refer to the golden ratio when addressing facial features such as lips. Dr. Rivkin and his staff are guided by these principles when they evaluate your face and lips. Our non-surgical lip augmentation treatments are designed to optimize your natural beauty, scientifically!

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM
YOUR THIN LIP TREATMENT

During your initial consultation, Dr. Rivkin will evaluate your unique needs and desired end results, as well as explain the procedure. He will also help you determine which type of filler will work best with your body and skin type to achieve the look you desire. You will have the opportunity to view before and after photos, so you will know exactly what to expect from the treatment.

Before the procedure, we will always numb your lips with topical numbing cream so that your experience will be as painless as possible. You will still feel mild discomfort since the lips are the most sensitive areas of the face, but it should be easily manageable.

Lip augmentation with Juvederm or Restylane Refyne takes about 15 minutes to perform and usually lasts about 6 to 12 months. When the product dissolves, it does so evenly and symmetrically, without bumps or irregularities. There is the possibility of mild swelling and bruising, as the lips are very vascular. These side effects are uncommon, but if they happen, they should subside within a few days.

Lip augmentation is one of the most popular aesthetic enhancements. Many patients are concerned that they will look overdone or resemble a duck after the procedure, but this is absolutely not the case at RIVKIN Aesthetics.

The results of a correctly performed lip augmentation procedure should be very natural. Friends may notice that the person looks “fresher,” or better, but they should not be able to figure out that a cosmetic procedure has been performed.

When an injector does not adhere to the proper ratios, symmetry and correct facial proportion, then lips can appear unnatural or overdone. At RIVKIN Aesthetics, you can rest assured that our practitioners are highly skilled and will never inject too much product. In fact, Dr. Rivkin has been known to turn away patients that seek an unnatural or overdone look. Dr. Rivkin’s patients know that they can get in touch with him at any time.
