The Thermage procedure is a safe, effective way to tighten loose skin all over the body without the risk, downtime or expense of surgery. Our patients tell us that the discomfort with the procedure is mild.
They consider Thermage to be the least painful skin tightening technology. Thermage technology is not a laser–it is a device that delivers monopolar radiofrequency energy down to the deeper layers of the skin, treating a large volume of tissue with each REP (radiofrequency energy pulse), stimulating the production of new collagen and causing the existing collagen to interlace, thus tightening and remodeling the skin above.
The Thermage procedure is cleared by the FDA for the non-invasive, non-ablative, treatment of wrinkles and skin tightening for all skin types. For patients with sagging or loose skin on the face or body, Thermage helps to promote the process of new collagen production. The result is a smoother, sleeker and younger look without downtime.
When used on the upper and lower eye area, Thermage helps to smooth fine lines and wrinkles. THERMAGE
Thermage is a procedure that does not cause downtime, so there is no need to take time off from work or schedule around upcoming event. There is a small amount of redness and swelling after the procedure that subsides within a few days.
During the procedure, pain is minimal. For patients with a very low pain tolerance, Thermage offers a great alternative to Ultherapy, which causes moderate discomfort. More invasive laser procedures, such as CO2 laser resurfacing, result in 1-2 weeks of redness, some swelling and peeling of the skin.
Because Thermage is not a laser, all skin types and colors can be treated, without risk for burning or scarring. This is an important advancement over CO2 laser procedures, where the risk of skin discoloration after treatment is quite serious in individuals with olive or darker skin.
During your initial consultation, Dr. Rivkin and the treating nurse will evaluate your unique needs and explain the procedure in detail. You will have the opportunity to view before and after photos, so that you will know what to expect from the treatment.
