What Is a Permanent Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?
It’s a cosmetic procedure using Bellafill, an FDA-approved dermal filler, to reshape and refine the nose. During this minimally invasive treatment, Bellafill is strategically injected into specific areas to address concerns like bumps, asymmetry, or irregularities, much like Restylane and Juvederm fillers.
During the procedure, the filler is strategically injected into specific areas of the nose to address concerns such as bumps, asymmetry, drooping tip, or irregularities. Just like Restylane and Juvederm fillers, Bellafill can be used to add volume, smooth out contours, and enhance the overall shape of the nose.
Unlike traditional surgical rhinoplasty, which involves incisions and restructuring of the nasal bones and cartilage, permanent non-surgical rhinoplasty is minimally invasive and does not require anesthesia or downtime but creates long lasting results.
How is Bellafill Nose Job Different from a Regular Non-Surgical Nose Job?
Unlike Hyaluronic Acid fillers, Bellafill is composed of a combination of bovine collagen and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres. The collagen provides immediate volume and structure, while the PMMA microspheres create a framework for the body’s natural collagen production, resulting in longer-lasting effects.
Patients typically undergo 2-3 treatments, each lasting just minutes, with results lasting years. Some choose a trial liquid rhinoplasty with Hyaluronic Acid before opting for Bellafill. Dr. Alexander Z. Rivkin, a pioneer in non-surgical rhinoplasty, offers this procedure at Westside Aesthetics near Santa Monica, Los Angeles.
How Is a Permanent Non-Surgical Nose Job Different from a Surgical Rhinoplasty?
Permanent non-surgical nose jobs offer a minimally invasive alternative, utilizing injectable fillers like Bellafill to sculpt and reshape the nose. It’s a quick procedure with minimal downtime, providing immediate results that can last for years. Unlike surgical rhinoplasty, there’s no need for general anesthesia, and recovery is swift, allowing you to resume your daily activities without delay.
On the other hand, surgical rhinoplasty involves incisions and restructuring of the nasal bones and cartilage to achieve permanent changes. While it offers long-lasting results, there’s a more extended recovery period, typically involving swelling and discomfort for several weeks to months post-surgery.
Let’s consider some additional factors to help you make an informed decision.
Unlike permanent non-surgical nose jobs, where adjustments can be made gradually over multiple sessions by adding filler, surgical rhinoplasty outcomes rely entirely on the surgeon’s aesthetic expertise. Surgical rhinoplasty offers immediate and permanent changes, leaving little room for post-procedure adjustments.
Conversely, surgical rhinoplasty provides a definitive solution. Once the healing process is complete, the changes made to your nose are typically permanent. This permanence can be reassuring for individuals seeking a more drastic transformation or those who are certain about the changes they want to make.
Secondly, let’s consider the risk factor. While both procedures carry some level of risk, permanent non-surgical nose jobs generally pose fewer potential complications compared to surgical rhinoplasty. With non-surgical options, risks such as infection, allergic reactions, or filler migration are relatively rare and usually less severe.
On the other hand, surgical rhinoplasty involves more significant risks due to its invasive nature. Complications such as bleeding, infection, anesthesia reactions, or dissatisfaction with results may occur, albeit infrequently. It’s essential to weigh these risks against the potential benefits when making your decision.
Patients who’ve had surgical rhinoplasty can seek non-surgical revisions from Dr. Rivkin. As the only practitioner in the U.S. offering this procedure for post-surgery patients, Dr. Alexander Z. Rivkin offers safe and effective alternatives to further surgery, ensuring personalized adjustments without additional surgical intervention.
Whether you opt for the immediate transformation of a non-surgical nose job or the permanent changes of surgical rhinoplasty depends on your preferences, goals, and tolerance for downtime.

Bellafill is a filler that works well and lasts a long time. It has been approved by the FDA since 2006. Bellafill is a bit different from other fillers because it relies on your body's response to stimulate tissue growth. It usually takes several sessions to achieve the desired effect. Most fillers work by sitting under the skin, but Bellafill stimulates your own tissue to grow. On average, people need 2 to 3 sessions to see the final result. These sessions are spaced around 6 months apart to allow your tissue to grow. After the first session, you might not notice much change, but it improves with subsequent sessions. Just be patient, and you will see the results.

In general, it's best to avoid surgically removing Artefill/Bellafill if possible. The process of cutting it out can be complex and may result in scars. If you're experiencing bumps or contour irregularities on your nose, I would recommend considering steroid injections and/or filler injections around the affected area to help conceal it. I have successfully addressed similar issues in the past, and the results have been excellent.

We have been using Bellafill for more than 15 years and have never encountered any serious side effects. As with any injectable, there is a possibility of bruising, and mild swelling may occur for a day or so. Bellafill provides long-lasting results, so it's important to choose an experienced and conservative practitioner when considering this treatment. The desired outcome is typically achieved through 2 to 3 sessions spaced approximately 6 months apart. When injected correctly, Bellafill feels soft and looks natural. Some of our patients choose to try temporary fillers like Voluma first to see if they like the results before switching to Bellafill. Voluma can be easily reversed and lasts for about a year and a half.
