WHAT YOU WANT
MEET YOUR NEW NOSE
You want your nose to honor the proportions of your face and blend in to the rest of your features. That bump? Camouflaged! Low bridge? We can create a nice, well defined bridge! Droopy tip? We can bring it up easily! Looking a bit “done” after a surgical rhinoplasty? No problem! We can smooth over unnaturally sharp edges, add symmetry and fill out scarring. Your nose can look like it has never been touched. Now that would be a nice boost of confidence and self-esteem!
As the central, most prominent feature of the face, the nose has a large impact on your overall appearance. Until recently, traditional rhinoplasty surgery (aka – a surgical nose job) was the only way to change the appearance of your nose. Surgical rhinoplasty is a permanent procedure that can transform someone’s face, but it involves risks as well as extensive downtime. In 2004, Dr. Rivkin pioneered a revolutionary, non-invasive alternative to surgical rhinoplasty right here in California. Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty (also known as the Non-Surgical Nose Job, Liquid Nose Job or 5 Minute Nose Job) resolves the appearance of bumps, drooping tips, and nasal asymmetry safely and quickly, without the risks and long, painful recovery normally associated with rhinoplasty surgery. Since then, the Non-Surgical Nose Job procedure has become very popular and all over the world.
As the creator of the procedure, Dr. Rivkin has been featured throughout the national and international media. Shows such as Extra, the Doctors, TODAY Show and Good Morning America have highlighted the ease and simplicity of the technique in comparison to surgical rhinoplasty. Dr. Rivkin regularly performs the entire procedure on the sets of these shows, and you can see the videos here! He has also been highlighted in numerous national publications such as the New York Times, Elle and Glamour.
Over the last 20 years, Dr. Rivkin has performed over 20,000 Non-Surgical Nose Jobs (Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty) in his clinic. As the leading global practitioner of the technique, he often trains other injectors, making sure that his trainees will maintain his exacting standards of safety and efficacy.

PIONEERED BY DR. RIVKIN:
NON-SURGICAL NOSE JOB
As the central, most prominent feature of the face, the nose has a large impact on your overall appearance. Over the last 15 years, Dr. Rivkin has performed over 4000 Non-Surgical Nose Jobs (Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty) in his clinic, which is far more than anyone else in the world. He trains other physicians in the technique, making sure that his trainees will maintain his exacting standards.
THE NON-SURGICAL
NOSE JOB PROCEDURE
Dr. Rivkin’s Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty takes about fifteen minutes to perform. A topical numbing cream is applied to the top of the nose. Voluma, Lyft, Volux or Bellafill (Dr. Rivkin’s usual fillers of choice for the nose) are injected to fill depressions, smooth out sharp angles, or change the angle of the tip of the nose, restoring symmetry and making the nose appear straighter and more attractive.
We have discovered over the years that making the nose straighter by eliminating bumps, correcting asymmetry and lifting the tip actually makes the nose look smaller! Dr. Rivkin believes that, as you make the nose straighter you are helping it blend in to the rest of the face, making it less noticeable and therefore smaller to the eye of the observer. Many patients have been amazed at how this procedure, that adds volume to the nose, results in a smaller looking nose at the end.
During the procedure you will have the opportunity to follow the progress with a mirror and discuss the results with Dr. Rivkin. Adjustments can be made on the spot so that you know that the result of the procedure is exactly as you imagined it would be!
Lyft is Dr. Rivkin’s favorite filler for the temporary form of the Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty procedure. It is a safe, robust and smooth filler that projects tissue very well, maintains definition over time and gives a natural look. Like all hyaluronic acid fillers, Lyft is reversible at any time with a simple enzyme injection. If left in place, Lyft lasts for about a year to a year and a half or more in the nose. Dr. Rivkin also sometimes uses Voluma, which is a slightly softer hyaluronic acid filler that does a great job smoothing contours.
Volux is a long lasting hyaluronic acid filler that Dr. Rivkin uses when the patient knows they will not be transitioning to a permanent filler. Volux lifts and defines well and the effect lasts for 2 years or more. During your comprehensive consultation, you will decide with Dr. Rivkin which filler is the one for you.
None of these fillers require allergy testing and they will not migrate or lump up within the tissues. When they dissolve, they will do so evenly and symmetrically. All of these hyaluronic acid fillers are reversible with enzyme or, if left in place, will simply be broken down by the body naturally and gradually disappear, leaving no trace behind.
Dr. Rivkin usually suggests one of these temporary fillers for patients who have never had any prior injections or cosmetic enhancements to the nose. Once the patient has experienced the procedure and we have a road map to success, we offer to switch to a permanent filler. Bellafill is currently the only FDA approved permanent filler in the USA. Dr. Rivkin has been using Bellafill for Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty for 15 years and has seen outstanding, long lasting results. The main ingredient in Bellafill is microscopic beads of methyl methacrylate, a safe surgical plastic that cannot be broken down by the body and has been in use for over 50 years. Bellafill is not reversible, but is administered gradually, in two to three sessions spaced about 6 months apart. Results are smooth, soft and natural. Dr. Rivkin has used this filler on more than 3000 patients without a major complication. Whichever filler you choose, you can rest assured that with Dr. Rivkin, your results will be nothing less than amazing!
PERMANENT RESULTS WITH NON-SURGICAL RHINOPLASTY
When permanent results are desired, Dr. Rivkin also offers Bellafill (formerly known as Artefill). In 2007, the FDA approved Artefill for use in nasolabial folds. The company subsequently changed ownership and the name of the product was charged to Bellafill. Bellafill is the first permanent injectable filler approved for the US market. Some doctors have been using injectable silicone in the lips and other areas as a permanent filler, but safety concerns have made the use of silicone rare. Bellafill provides a safe alternative, if used correctly by an experienced injector. Bellafill is a dermal filler made with bovine collagen gel and PMMA (polymethylmethacrylate) microspheres (a safe, non reactive plastic that has been in use for more than 50 years as a surgical implant). Because it contains bovine collagen, Bellafill does require a skin test prior to use, although allergic reactions are extremely rare. Dr. Rivkin currently offers Bellafill as a permanent version of his Non Surgical Rhinoplasty and Chin Augmentation procedures. Bellafill is injected gradually, over two to three sessions spaced six months apart. Over time, the collagen component is replaced by the body’s own tissue. Careful use of Bellafill for the Non-Surgical Nose Job (Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty) has resulted in many people having the permanent effect of surgical rhinoplasty with a simple series of 15 minute injections!
CANDIDATES FOR NON-SURGICAL RHINOPLASTY
For patients that are unhappy with the shape of their nose, Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty may be the perfect solution. This 15 minute procedure can quickly and easily correct minor bumps, deviations, drooping tips and other imperfections with no downtime and minimal risk. During your initial consultation, Dr. Rivkin will evaluate your unique needs, desired end results, and explain the procedure. Dr. Rivkin will also help you determine which type of filler will work best with your body and skin type to achieve the look that you desire. You will have the opportunity to view before and after photos, so that you will know exactly what to expect from the treatment.
THE INJECTION
The Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty procedure starts with photography so that we have a clear record of how your nose looked before the procedure. We then apply topical numbing cream to the nose and let it sit for 20 to 30 minutes. Once the cream is off, you will place ice on your nose to make it even more numb and to decrease the risk of bruising.
After thoroughly cleansing your skin, Dr. Rivkin performs a series of extremely precise injections at specific points along your nose. Where he injects depends on what kind of correction he is trying to achieve. Most of these injections will involve minimal discomfort, but the tip and nostrils are somewhat more sensitive than the rest of the nose.
During the injection process, Dr. Rivkin’s assistant will tap your shoulder to distract you from the sensation of the injections. After the injections, we will put on topical Arnica and give you Arnica pills. At this point you should be ready to go home without anyone being able to tell that you have had an aesthetic procedure.
RECOVERY AND RESULTS OF
THE “5 MINUTE NOSE JOB”
The Non-Surgical Nose Job procedure does not entail downtime; patients can usually return to work immediately. One may experience minor bruising, mild swelling, and a bit of redness and tenderness at the tip, all of which should resolve very quickly. After the procedure, you can continue your normal skincare routine. Touching your nose, washing your face and normal activities will not affect the results of the procedure.
We suggest that you avoid makeup for 3 hours as well as exercise, aspirin, ibuprofen, and alcohol intake for at least 24 hours following the injection. We also advise that you refrain from wearing heavy sunglasses for at least a week. For patients that have a higher tendency to bruise, we suggest not taking any blood thinners for a week prior to treatment if allowed by your physician. Blood thinners include alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, vitamin E supplements, fish or flax seed oil supplements, ginko biloba, and St. John’s Wort.

PROS AND CONS OF THE
NON-SURGICAL NOSE JOB
The Non-Surgical Nose Job is a perfect option for those with mild to moderate imperfections in their nose, such as a bump, droopy tip, crooked nose or low bridge. It is also a great solution for those who have had traditional rhinoplasty surgery, but are not completely satisfied with the results. Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty will often correct the contour irregularities that can result from post-surgical scarring and save patients a risky revision rhinoplasty surgery. However, being a non-surgical, non-invasive alternative, there is a limit to what this procedure can correct. Dr. Rivkin will be able to tell if you are a potential candidate and how much improvement you can expect during your consultation.
Many patients love the fact that Dr. Rivkin’s Non-Surgical Nose Job procedure is a temporary alternative, which allows them to try out the look before committing to a permanent option. Because there is no downtime, patients can return to their normal lives immediately following the treatment.
For those that are addressing issues other than aesthetic correction, such as to resolve nasal trauma, a congenital defect, respiratory impediment, or a failed primary rhinoplasty, a traditional surgical nose job may be the only option. If this is the case, Dr. Rivkin will refer you to one of his expert surgical colleagues.
At RIVKIN Aesthetics, we prefer gradual, natural and non-invasive aesthetic correction. We find that small adjustments done over time will result in longer lasting and more aesthetically pleasing results. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
The cost of nose filler injections can vary depending on factors such as the specific product used and the provider administering the treatment. At our practice, prices typically range from $2500 to $6000. If Bellafill, a permanent filler, is used, the cost may be on the higher end of the range due to the unique properties and longevity of the product.
-
The most common risks associated with nose filler injections are temporary bruising and swelling at the injection site. A very rare complication of this procedure is vascular occlusion, which can occur from compression of the capillaries supplying blood to the skin or occurs when filler is inadvertently injected into a blood vessel. In experienced hands, this complication happens less than 0.1% of the time and is treatable. Cases of blindness have been reported after filler injection, but this is much more rare. With the proper precautions, the chances of it happening are vanishingly small. Dr. Rivkin has performed well over 25,000 liquid rhnioplasty procedures and has never had a visual complication. It's important to consult with a qualified and skilled practitioner who can discuss these risks and provide appropriate guidance for a safe procedure.
-
The level of pain experienced during a non-surgical rhinoplasty, also known as a liquid or filler rhinoplasty, can vary from person to person. Generally, non-surgical rhinoplasty procedures involve the use of numbing creams or local anesthesia to minimize discomfort. While some individuals may experience mild discomfort or pressure during the injection process, it is typically well-tolerated and considered to be a relatively low pain procedure.
-
For most people, the results of a liquid rhinoplasty performed with a hyaluronic acid filler, such as Lyft, Voluma or Volux, last up to 2 1/2 years. After this time, the filler gradually breaks down and is naturally absorbed by the body, causing your nose to return to its pre-treatment appearance. Of course all hyaluronic acid fillers are reversible at any time with a simple injection of hyaluronidase enzyme. If you are seeking permanent results, a liquid rhinoplasty using Bellafill may be a suitable option.
-
Following a non-surgical rhinoplasty procedure, it's crucial to adhere to specific guidelines. These include refraining from massaging or applying pressure to the treated area for a couple of weeks, avoiding wearing heavy glasses that rest on the bridge of the nose (if they rest on the pads, its not a problem), abstaining from intense workouts, as well as aspirin, ibuprofen and alcohol consumption for 24 hours. Consulting with your injector is essential to receive personalized post-treatment instructions that are tailored to your specific case.
-
After a non-surgical nose job, you can sleep in any position that is comfortable for you. Unlike surgical rhinoplasty, non-surgical procedures do not typically require specific sleeping positions or restrictions. However, it's always a good idea to follow any post-treatment instructions or guidelines provided by your injector to ensure optimal healing and results.
-
You cannot physically reduce the size of the nose non surgically. You can make the nose appear smaller through strategic use of filler injections to alter the contours of the nose and make it look straighter, but you can't shrink the bone and cartilage. In cases where liquid rhnioplasty cannot fulfill your cosmetic goals, surgical rhinoplasty can be an effective option to reshape the nose and achieve desired changes.
-
Like any medical aesthetic procedure, non-surgical rhinoplasty has drawbacks to consider. It is not suitable for major restructuring, physical reduction of an overly large nose or correcting functional issues like trouble breathing through your nose. Also like any medical procedure, there is a small risk of complications. Adverse events like infection, bruising or swelling happen, although not often. More serious risks like vascular occlusion, ischemia or necrosis are extremely rare in the hands of an experienced and careful injector. One disadvantage that was solved by Dr. Rivkin is the temporary aspect of the results. With the use of permanent fillers, the results of Dr. Rivkin's procedure last for many years.
-
A cheaper alternative to surgical rhinoplasty is liquid rhinoplasty. Liquid rhinoplasty is a more affordable option that can improve the shape of the nose without the need for surgery by using injectable fillers. Although this method cannot physically reduce the size of an overly large nose, it can make a nose with a bump or a droopy tip appear smaller by camouflaging the imperfections and making the nose straighter. When temporary hyaluronic acid fillers are used, the results last up to 2 1/2 years and are reversible or adjustable at any time. When permanent fillers are used, the results last for many years.
-
Yes, it is possible to reshape your nose without surgery through non-surgical options such as liquid rhinoplasty (also called non-surgical nose job). It involves the use of injectable fillers to make subtle adjustments to the shape and appearance of the nose. While it is not possible to physically reduce the size of a nose through non-surgical methods, you can make a nose appear smaller through the strategic placement of long lasting fillers. Non surgical rhinoplasty provides a less invasive option for those seeking aesthetic improvements without the associated downtime, expense, risk and pain of a surgical procedure.
-
A good candidate for a liquid rhinoplasty, or non-surgical rhinoplasty, is someone who desires cosmetic improvements to their nose, has realistic expectations about the potential outcomes, and prefers a non-invasive option to avoid the risks and recovery associated with surgery. Consulting with an expert injector who specializes in this procedure is essential to determine if you meet the criteria and to discuss your specific goals and suitability for a liquid rhinoplasty procedure. Examples of aesthetic conditions that are suitable for liquid rhinoplasty are: dorsal bump, droopy tip, low bridge, twisted or asymmetric nose and post surgical noses that look unnatural.
-
If you are interested in a liquid rhinoplasty with permanent results, Bellafill is your best option. Unlike hyaluronic acid-based fillers, Bellafill is a PMMA filler that is not absorbed by the body and remains in place. The PMMA material works by stimulating your own body to produce collagen around the particles and lift the skin naturally. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, Bellafill is not dissolvable with enzyme and it is not a good idea to undergo surgical rhinoplasty once the Bellafill has been injected.
-
Non-surgical rhinoplasty cannot reduce a nose, so if you are looking to physically slim your nose, then a surgical rhinoplasty would work best. However, non-surgical rhinoplasty can make a nose appear thinner through strategic placement of filler on top of the bridge. This is tricky to achieve, so if you want a slimmer nose without surgery, you have to choose a very experienced non surgical rhinoplasty injector.
-
The amount of filler required for a liquid rhinoplasty can vary depending on the individual's specific goals and the amount of correction needed. Typically, less than 1 syringe of filler over a couple of sessions is necessary to achieve the desired results. The exact amount will be determined during a consultation with an experienced liquid rhinoplasty expert, who will assess the nasal anatomy and discuss the desired outcome with the patient to determine the appropriate amount of filler needed for the procedure.
-
Bulbous nose tips can be challenging to address without surgery. Non-surgical options, such as liquid rhinoplasty, may provide some improvement through strategic contouring, but the degree of correction may be limited. Surgical rhinoplasty remains the most effective method for significant reshaping and reduction of a bulbous nose tip.
-
Surgical rhinoplasty is a comprehensive procedure that can address structural issues and achieve significant reshaping, but it involves anesthesia, downtime, and potential risks. Non-surgical rhinoplasty, using injectable fillers, offers instant results, minimal risks, and no downtime compared to surgery. However, it's important to note that non-surgical rhinoplasty may not achieve the same level of dramatic difference as surgical rhinoplasty.
-
By lifting the upper part of the nose and refining its tip, we can make the profile straighter and the nose more elegant. It's interesting that when we straighten the nose, it appears smaller even though we're actually adding to its structure. Injecting the tip can be tricky, but with enough experience, it can be done very effectively. Also, there are temporary and permanent fillers available for this procedure. Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty is a specialized injection technique that gives excellent results, but injecting the nose carries specific risks. Dr. Rivkin was among the first to use fillers in the nose about 20 years ago, and he performs this procedure on about 8 patients every day. He has developed and refined various safety protocols to minimize risks and achieve the best possible results.
-
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty can effectively fill and smooth an indentation on the nose using hyaluronic acid fillers that are reversible and long-lasting. It is a specialized injection procedure that provides excellent results. However, injecting the nose carries specific risks, making it a particularly dangerous area. Injectors who work on the nose must have extensive experience, knowledge of the procedure and nasal anatomy, and be well-prepared to handle emergencies.
-
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty is a specialized injection procedure that delivers impressive results, but injecting the nose carries significant risks. It requires practitioners with extensive experience who possess a deep understanding of the procedure, nasal anatomy, and emergency protocols. Noses that have undergone previous rhinoplasty are particularly sensitive and require careful attention. Dr. Rivkin, an early pioneer in nasal filler injections 18 years ago, currently performs this procedure on approximately 8 patients per day, half of whom have previously had surgical rhinoplasty. Over time, he has developed and refined numerous safety protocols to minimize risks and enhance outcomes. When selecting a practitioner for your nose injections, it is crucial to ensure they have experience in injections, particularly with noses and post-rhinoplasty cases. Requesting to see before and after photos, reading reviews, and obtaining patient references are all essential steps in conducting thorough research. Investing time in this process is worthwhile.
-
Yes, you can enhance your bridge and make your nose resemble its pre-surgery appearance. It's recommended to wait for 6 months after the procedure for the tissue to settle. A suitable filler for this purpose is Voluma, which is a hyaluronic acid filler known for its natural look and lasting effects of around 1 to 1.5 years. If desired, Voluma can be dissolved with an enzyme injection at any time. After one or two sessions of Voluma, you can consider transitioning to a permanent filler like Bellafill, so you won't necessarily need ongoing injections. It's important to note that non-surgical rhinoplasty is a complex procedure with higher risks compared to regular filler injections. Therefore, it's crucial to choose an experienced injector who specializes in this specific procedure.
-
Getting injections in the nose can lead to long-lasting redness and broken blood vessels because of the inflammation and bruising that may happen. This is your body's natural way of healing itself, which is quite normal. To address these issues, there are various types of lasers available, such as Yag, IPL, Excel V, and V-beam, which can effectively reduce the appearance of these new tiny blood vessels.
-
Typically, I prefer using Voluma as a temporary filler for my patients, which lasts for about 1.5 to 2 years. One of the significant advantages of Voluma is its reversibility with a simple enzyme injection, giving patients more flexibility. Once the filler wears off, and the nose returns to its original shape, I offer my patients two options: repeating the Voluma treatment or considering a permanent filler like Bellafill. Bellafill is a safe and effective option, providing long-lasting results as it doesn't dissolve in the body, often lasting for many years or even a lifetime.
